"Once In A Lifetime"
Day 1
After a nine hour flight we arrived in London. Deven and I got car sick and jet lag really bad the first day, so we didn't feel very good. We made the best of it and went sight-seeing! The first stop was St. Paul's Cathedral. We got a good tour guide to take us through. It was very interesting and beautiful. Deven even managed to take a little nap in the cathedral!
After our tour in the cathedral, we walked quite a ways to see the Tower Bridge, I had to take a picture of the double decker buses. I thought my kids would enjoy that!
This is the Tower Bridge that spans across the River Thames.
We took another tour through the Tower of London. This one was great because of the "Beefeaters". That is what royal guards are called. He was hilarious to listen to!
Here is one of the many guards we saw that were stationed at different places. I really enjoyed watching them in their routines.
This was one of the many cool cars we saw with the awesome license plates. Another thing I thought my kids would get a kick out of!
Day 2
On the second day we went to visit Windsor Castle! What a beautiful castle it is! We were lucky enough to see the flag flying over the castle too, which means the queen was actually there that day. We never did see her though.
A very good picture of Deven and his parents standing over the River Thames!
We entered the castle on one side and walked around to the other side. It was beautiful from all angles. I just couldn't imagine living in a castle!
We took a walking tour through the castle that was narrated by a recording. We also saw some of the changing of the guards. I tried to get a recording of them playing their bagpipes, but I just wasn't quick enough! That was fun to listen to them.
Here we are standing in front of the queens living quarters and the grounds outside. It would have been really cool to see the queen.
The grounds around the castle were immaculate. Very green with flowers and ponds! I guess that is what you get when you are the queen.
We really enjoyed London.......we boarded the cruise ship later this day!
